Farewell Aldebaran Reissued on CD!

Thanks to Robin for the tip…

Farewell Aldebaran

Radioactive Records in the UK has released the cult classic from Judy Henske & Jerry Yester, Farewell Aldebaran. As far as I can tell, it’s out now (why am I the last one to find out about this stuff??).

UPDATE: Judy is going to offer this CD at her website, so please support her and buy it there. We’ll let you know when she has it available.

This is an amazing album, and it’s about time somebody has reissued it. Now all we need is Judy’s lone album for Mercury Records, Little Bit of Sunshine, Little Bit of Rain!

Want to know more about Farewell Aldebaran? A blogger called The Mystical Beast has a nice description (plus some MP3 samples).

UPDATE: Over at the Steve Hoffman Music Forums, somebody mentioned that some releases from Radioactive Records are not exactly “legit.” Some are taken straight from vinyl. Not sure if that’s true or not, so feel free to correct me. Hopefully, they got ahold of the master tapes and did it right.

UPDATE #2: The CD is now available directly from Judy’s website.

  1. Yes, the ‘transfer’ of Farewell Aldebaran to CD by Radioactive is not so good. But at least we have it now… Somebody remaster it properly please!

  4. Jac Holzman should arrange for a reissue. Radioactive is not legit. Sometimes, they do ltd. vinyl reprints a couple of weeks / months after the cd reissue. Disturbingly, they reprint the original sleeve art, but diminished in size, and they don’t reprint the unreadable bits in new liner notes. The one thing they print big, though, is their ugly logo. Still, if their reissue is the only way you can get hold of the music…

The label is related to Past & Present, which specialises in reissue compilations, e.g. the New Rubble series. Neither has an official site, but this one comes closest :
